The process of document restoration is not accomplished with the actual document. The document is scanned into a computer and changes made to make the scanned copy readable and printable. Originals are handled delicately and often with gloved hands depending on the age of the document. Documents "restored" in this fashion are printed on matte finish photo paper to add to their longevity. Copies on cd are available upon request.
The cost of making an old document readable/legible depends on an estimate of the time involved. Email a photocopy or scanned copy of a document for estimate purposes. We prefer to have the original document in hand however, when the work begins.

The following telegram was brown with age and retaining that look as much as possible was the goal. It was wrinked, crease damaged and very faded. As the client wanted to supply framed photo's to descendents of the named soldier we needed to make sure it was readable. Once printed however, the lettering was too faded to be easily read.
Likewise, there was not enough surrounding area for the document to be framed. We set about making the body legible and adding surrounding area so it could easily be framed and still be readable.
